CUFFS MISE-EN-SCENE AND OTHER ELEMENTS INSIDE BENSON'S HOUSE

A Terraced house in quite a rough area. England Flag and Pitbull. Cut to interior. Jake and Ryan right to be worried, alcohol, drugs, loud music, very over animated aggressive atmosphere. Dangerous. white heavy set tattooed male. lots of beer bottles. 

1. Inside Bensons house it is dimly lit and smokey compared to the sun outside. There is lots of alcohol and cigarettes and its very hard to identify people. It is very crowded and the officers are outnumbered. With the loud music and amount of people who have been drinking makes the situation very tense and volatile. Tension is being created by using slow-mo and there is non diegetic percussion sounds which make it tense. We are made to feel sympathetic for Jake as the camera pans to his fear stricken face. The stock roles set by Vladimir Propp is clear in this scene and people are easily distinguished against. A pan shot shows the confusion felt by Jake and shows he is overwhelmed. Distorted sound shows his confusion and fear as he is rooted to the spot as it is a new experience. The non diegetic sound cuts as Jakes realisation becomes apparent and he becomes aware again. Extreme close ups are used to show jakes fear and terror. Jake goes from being helpless to then moving into a heroic role. Tension builds as Jake hears the fight and hears louds crashes as he runs into the danger. Benson has a manic look on his face showing he is drunk and lustful for violence. our hatred for Benson increases as we are revealed to his racist nature.

3. It reminds people about the war and the strength of Britain. It makes them feel sympathetic for Steed as they would know the actor fought in the war. It stirs up emotions of sadness and sorrow but also remembrance and a reminder that Britain are strong and united. It would play with Audience emotions and reminds them to be proud of being British.

The sound of his footsteps on the gravel are diegetic sound, along with the shouting. The cuts we see between the beach and Chief Super Intendant Vikars are directly contradicting. The sound is there to show that what is said about police officers being respected by the public and being in dignified situations is the opposite to what was actually happening.
