Cold War

From the Observer, I have learnt that in the mid-1960’s everyone was worried about the Cold War. The Cold War was a period of geopolitical tension between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies, the Western Bloc and the Eastern Bloc, which began following World War II. People were scared because of the threat of a nuclear war, invasion and a clash of international superpowers.

  1. You have noted that on the front covers of the 1960s Observer, there are concerns about The Cold War. There is detailed historical background on BBC Bitesize

but we just need to know what the references mean on the front covers.
